Updated 14 October 2026. Changelog: first published 14 October 2026.
For high-volume BPO hiring in India and the Philippines, Fabric is our top recommendation when the priority is to interview every applicant, assess spoken communication and fill a training batch quickly. Its phone-first interviews, regional-language support and customer role-play are built around that workflow. HireVue is worth considering when validated assessments and formal security requirements carry more weight. The right choice depends on how your BPO hires.
This comparison focuses on the decisions that matter on a BPO floor: phone access, spoken communication, language coverage, role simulations, integrity checks and ATS fit. It is written for talent leaders in India and the Philippines who know HireVue or have received a quote and need to fill a batch.
The comparison in eight numbers
Each one is explained, with its source, further down the page.
Quick answer
For high-volume BPO hiring where phone access and spoken communication matter most.
Choose Fabric if
- candidates have a phone, not a laptop or webcam
- you need phone-first screening in Tamil, Bengali, Kannada or Tagalog
- you need regional-language interviews or use Darwinbox or Keka
Choose HireVue if
- your global enterprise BPO is standardised on Workday, SAP SuccessFactors or Oracle
- your US government work requires FedRAMP Moderate
Or run both. Fabric phone-screens every applicant, then HireVue assesses the shortlist. See how to pilot them side by side.

The most consequential differences are candidate access, what each assessment actually measures, and how well the workflow fits your roles and systems. The table is the quick reference; the sections below explain the trade-offs that matter most. For a wider view, see our comparison of nine AI interview tools for BPO hiring.
How each platform fits a BPO hiring workflow
Fabric is designed around a two-step screen: an initial interview by ordinary phone call or WhatsApp, followed by a deeper AI interview with follow-up questions and customer role-play. Ask for a live walkthrough of the exact candidate journey you plan to use.
For non-voice and back-office roles, Fabric also offers written chat and email tasks and KYC or data-entry interviews. The useful comparison is whether each tool tests the work your new hires will actually do.

HireVue’s current AI Interviewer runs two-way voice interviews with follow-up questions. Its wider platform also includes recorded and live video interviews, automated phone interviews, text interviews, assessments and job tryouts. These are distinct products and formats, so ask which exact combination is included in the quote. AI Interviewer, launched on 18 June 2026, runs a two-way voice conversation with probing follow-up questions. HireVue also runs on-demand recorded video, live video, automated phone interviews, and SMS or WhatsApp text interviews (solution descriptions).
Can candidates interview on a phone, without a camera?
Fabric’s phone screen runs over an ordinary call or WhatsApp without a camera. For high-volume hiring, that removes a practical barrier for candidates who share devices or have unreliable mobile data.
HireVue’s on-demand video requires a webcam and, in its published technical specifications, at least 100 kbps upload speed (350 kbps recommended). Supported apps and browser versions also apply. These requirements add steps compared with a regular phone call. Source: Technical specifications
HireVue also lists automated phone interviews. Its public product pages do not clearly establish that the newer AI Interviewer is delivered over an ordinary phone call, so confirm the format in writing rather than treating all phone features as interchangeable.

Try a sample AI interviewWhat does the AI actually score: words or voice?
Fabric’s phone screen and AI interview assess clarity, fluency, listening and pronunciation, and report spoken English against CEFR levels. Fabric does not score accent. See a sample scorecard.
What reaches the score
In the AI-scored interview itself.
Spoken fluency is measured in a separate Language Proficiency Test, reported in CEFR levels.
Scored inside the phone screen and the AI interview, with a CEFR level from both.
HireVue’s 2025 AI Explainability Statement says its AI-scored video interviews assess transcribed words and do not use video analysis or other audio characteristics such as tone of voice. This describes that scoring method, not every assessment HireVue sells. Source: AI Explainability Statement
HireVue separately offers a Language Proficiency Test covering reading, writing, speaking and listening, with results reported against CEFR levels. So it can assess spoken English; the distinction is whether that measure is part of the interview workflow or a separate test. Source: Language Proficiency Test
Which languages can each one interview in?
Fabric supports 16 interview languages, including Indian English variants, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi and Tagalog, as well as Spanish, Portuguese, German, Croatian and Japanese.
Run the same sample questions in the language and dialect you hire for. Check transcription quality and score consistency with fluent speakers, not just whether the interface is translated.
HireVue’s help centre lists 36 languages for platform localisation, including Hindi, Telugu and Urdu. That list does not prove every interview or assessment is available in all 36 languages. Source: Supported languages
For AI Interviewer, HireVue’s public page names English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, plus other languages. It does not provide a complete list resolving every Indian-language or Tagalog use case, so get written confirmation for the exact product and language. Source: AI Interviewer

Customer role-play, written replies and back-office tasks
Choose the assessment around the work. Voice agents need to explain clearly and handle difficult conversations; chat and email agents need to write useful replies; blended roles need both; back-office roles may need accurate data entry or KYC checks. A generic interview score will not answer all four questions.
Four kinds of BPO work, four tests
Match the assessment to the seat you are filling.
Voice agents
Explain clearly and handle difficult conversations.
Test: a spoken interview with customer role-play
Chat and email agents
Write useful replies.
Test: written customer replies
Blended roles
Do both, in the same shift.
Test: spoken and written
Back-office roles
Accurate data entry or KYC checks.
Test: tasks from the process itself
Fabric offers live conversational role-play using tailored scenarios, such as an angry customer whose refund is delayed. It also offers written replies for chat and email roles and interviews for KYC or data-entry work. In a demo, use a real scenario and judge answers against your trainers’ rubric. HireVue’s Virtual Job Tryouts simulate job tasks, including customer-care scenarios and a telecom exercise involving a call and recording information. These are useful when you want structured simulations. I could not confirm a dedicated written chat- or email-reply task in the public material reviewed; ask for a demonstration if that matters. Can HireVue detect cheating, and how does Fabric compare?
Fabric checks for deepfakes, a second voice and AI-assisted answers, with every flag reviewed by a person before a hiring decision. See examples of the evidence shown to recruiters. Treat an alert as a prompt for review, not proof that a candidate cheated.
HireVue lists checks involving identity, the interview environment, audio, screen and browser activity, along with AI detection and ID verification. Confirm which checks apply to each format and what evidence recruiters can review; a feature list does not establish accuracy in your use case. Source: Cheating and fraud details
For remote BPO hiring, distinguish impersonation from help provided by a tool during the interview. Ask both vendors to demonstrate checks for the exact phone, video or text format you will use. Read Fabric’s analysis of 19,368 interviews for the patterns it reports.
Integrity checks each one names
A flag is a reason for a recruiter to look again, not proof.
- Identity, environment, audio, screen and browser checks
- Confirms the same person remains present
- Browser-focus flags and copy-paste limits
- AI detection and location signals
- ID verification
- Deepfake checks
- Second-voice detection
- AI-assisted answer detection
- Flags reviewed by a person before any decision
Which ATS and HR systems does each one connect to?
HireVue lists more than 45 ATS integrations, including Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle/Taleo, iCIMS, Greenhouse and SmartRecruiters. It reports 140+ joint Workday customers. If you use Darwinbox or Keka, ask whether a supported integration is available for your edition and region rather than assuming it is impossible because it is not listed. Source: HireVue integrations
Fabric integrates with 20+ ATS including Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Ashby, Recruitee, BambooHR, Bullhorn, Ceipal, JobDiva, iCIMS, Darwinbox and Keka. Confirm whether the connection is live for your account and which fields (scores, transcripts and integrity flags) sync back to the candidate record.

140+ joint Workday customers. Darwinbox and Keka are not listed: ask about your edition and region.
Confirm which fields (scores, transcripts, integrity flags) sync back to the candidate record.
What does each cost?
HireVue does not publish a standard price. G2 and Vendr figures are historical and may describe different packages, so use them only as rough context. Request a written quote based on applicant volume, assessment mix and renewal terms. Sources: G2 pricing · Vendr pricing · HireVue pricing context
Fabric pricing depends on volume and role. Fabric supports 500 concurrent interviews and hosts candidate data in India and the US. Confirm concurrency, data flows and retention settings for your proposed deployment.
Get both vendors to quote the same scenario in writing. At minimum, ask:
- What do we pay for 500, 2,000 and 10,000 applicants a month?
- Do we pay for incomplete interviews or call minutes?
- What does the ATS integration cost, and who builds it?
- What happens to price at renewal?

Tick each question once the vendor has answered it in writing. Two quotes are only comparable when both columns are full.
When Fabric is the better fit
- Phone-first. Candidate access is a bottleneck. A phone-first screen can reach applicants who may not have a quiet place, webcam or reliable data connection.
- Languages. Regional languages matter for your hiring batch. Hear a sample call in your language.
- Voice in the score. Spoken communication is a core job skill. Fabric says it reports clarity, fluency, listening and pronunciation against CEFR levels; ask to inspect the evidence and scoring rubric.
- One workflow for every process. Your process mixes voice, chat and back-office work. Fabric offers customer role-play, written replies and KYC/data-entry interviews in the same workflow.
- Volume and data residency. You need high throughput or local systems. Fabric states 500 concurrent interviews and lists Darwinbox and Keka integrations. Confirm capacity, data residency and the integration fields in your contract.
When HireVue fits
HireVue is worth considering in three situations:
- FedRAMP. HireVue lists FedRAMP Moderate, which can matter for US government work. Verify the current certification scope and product coverage with its trust team.
- Enterprise stack. Your global BPO is standardised on Workday, SAP SuccessFactors or Oracle, and an established enterprise integration matters.
- Validated job tryouts. You want structured job simulations as a core part of assessment. Ask HireVue to demonstrate the exact tryout and tasks included in your package.

A focused pilot for your next batch
Test the workflow on a small live cohort before committing the full batch. Agree the test window with each vendor.
- Choose one role and cohort.Use a real voice, blended or back-office role from the batch you are filling now.
- Use the same job criteria.Agree on the questions, role-play, pass criteria and language before testing either tool.
- Test the candidate experience.Include low-cost Android phones, weaker mobile data and the languages your applicants use.
- Compare scores with human reviewers.Have experienced recruiters or trainers score a sample independently, then compare agreement and regional differences.
- Check the workflow.Confirm that scores, transcripts and integrity flags reach the right ATS record, and define how identity is checked at joining.
- Compare the full cost and scope.Get written quotes for the same applicant volume, interview formats, ATS work and renewal terms before expanding to the full batch.
Judge the pilot on completion rate, trainer agreement with scores, performance across languages and regions, candidate drop-off, recruiter review time and total cost. Expand once the results and ATS handoff work for your hiring team.

FAQ
What should a BPO compare before choosing an AI interview platform?
Start with the job and the batch: can applicants complete the interview on their available devices, does the assessment test the work they will do, can it evaluate your hiring languages, and does it fit your ATS and security requirements? HireVue fits enterprise assessment and governance needs; Fabric is our recommendation for phone-first, high-volume hiring where spoken communication and regional-language access matter.
How much does HireVue cost for a BPO?
HireVue does not publish a standard rate, and third-party figures vary by date and package. Fabric quotes by volume and role. Request comparable written quotes for the same monthly applicant volume, interview formats, ATS work and renewal terms.
Does HireVue integrate with Darwinbox or Keka?
HireVue’s public integrations page names platforms including Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle/Taleo, iCIMS, Greenhouse and SmartRecruiters. Fabric lists Darwinbox and Keka. Confirm current support and exactly which interview data syncs to your system.
Does HireVue still analyse facial expressions?
For HireVue’s AI-scored video interviews, its 2025 explainability statement says scoring uses transcribed words, not facial expressions, body language or tone of voice. Ask which specific HireVue product and scoring method is included in your proposal.
Can a BPO use HireVue and Fabric together?
Yes. Fabric can phone-screen the full applicant pool, with HireVue assessments or interviews reserved for the shortlist. Before testing this, confirm the ATS handoff, consent and candidate communications, total cost, and whether the extra assessment improves decisions enough to justify a second step.
Does either tool make the hiring decision?
No. These tools provide interviews, assessments, scores or flags to support a hiring decision. The recruiter or hiring panel remains responsible for reviewing evidence and deciding who advances.
Where is candidate data stored?
HireVue lists hosting in the US and Europe, with an APAC domain in Australia. Fabric hosts candidate data in India and the US. Ask each vendor for the storage, processing, subprocessors, retention and deletion terms that apply to your contract.
How many interviews can run at once?
Fabric supports 500 concurrent interviews. Ask both vendors to demonstrate throughput at your expected peak, including retries for missed calls and dropped interviews.
